4 Ways to Plan for an Apocalypse

By  |

Would you know what to do if the worst-case scenario happened? Would you and your family be prepared if something terrible were to befall the country or the world? Not many would be able to say yes to those questions, but thankfully, you can.

No matter what your budget or family circumstances are, you can make sure that you, your friends and your family are well prepared. Here are a few things you can do to plan for a possible apocalypse.

Food

One of the most important parts of planning is making sure you have enough food to cater for everyone in your home. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just nutritious and long lasting is best. Cans and packets are a good way to store food for long periods, however, make sure that you do regular checks of the use by date to see if anything needs replacing.

You also need plenty of storage space for the food that won’t get in the way of your daily life. There are many great ideas on storing food safely that is both tidy and effective.

Water

The other essential part of life, water, is something we take for granted in this country. However, what if that wasn’t the case? If there was a serious incident, water might not be available or clean enough to drink.

That is why you need to focus on how you can drink water that is clean and safe. There are many types of filter that will help to clean out the bad things. There are water treatment tablets that you can buy, that can turn even the dirtiest water into something safe. You need to make sure you buy the right filter and tablets for you and store them in the case of an emergency.

Shelter

Your home needs to be the first place you use as a shelter, and all your survival equipment has to be available for you to use it. If something happens to your home, you might have to consider leaving, but this has to be the last resort.

You should, of course, have a separate plan in place if you need to move from your home. Make sure you have food, water, and other essentials ready to go if needed.

Communication

You need to be able to communicate with friends and family if other means are not available. Make sure you plan ahead. A good way to prepare your friends is to use flyers; you can arrange a pre-determined place to meet-up and use that as the base for your flyers. That way, you can spread the word without needing phones or mobile communication (which may be obsolete in the middle of an apocalypse).

You can use software like Adobe Spark to create your flyers for free. They have flyer creator templates that you can base the flyer around. Make up a batch and send them to your friends and family; predetermine your plan of action before the worst strikes. People can also have your flyer pinned up in their house, ready for when the time comes.

If the worst were to happen, you need to know that you have a plan in place. It will give you great peace of mind to know you are prepared.
