"Just Win, Baby!"

[youtube id=jUuLOIXMDZ8 ]

This has to be one of the best videos I have seen in quite some time.  This little boy rocking out Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow” is Tucker Haas.  I saw this video on Hot Clicks today and thought I would do a little more research into this young man.  What I found was nothing short of amazing.

When Tucker’s uncle became assistant football coach at Central York High, he made the suggestion that Tucker, then age 5, should maybe try watching the second half of the football game on the sideline.  This not only boosted Tucker’s spirits but it lifted this football team higher than it had been before.  The presence of Tucker on the sidelines was a huge motivation factor for the team.

“He fills us up with motivation,” a player named Wayne says. “Whenever anything gets hard and we need to grind something out, we just look over there and we want to keep going.”

Tucker became a teammate to all the guys.  The team would wear black t-shirts that said “Tucker’s Team” on them.  He led them out onto the field and pumped them up with his emphatic battle cry “Just Win, Baby!”.  When Tucker was suffering from another relapse the team suited him up in full gear and ran a play before the game, against the opponents, that allowed Tucker to score a touchdown.  Tucker went on to win that fight again and he has been cancer free since, almost 3 years now.

thon2010_logoThe event Tucker performed at in the video above is THON 2010.  The Penn State IFC/Pan-Hellenic Dance Marathon, commonly referred to as THON, is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world.  THON was started by Penn State students back in 1974 with an dance marathon, including only 34 dancers, that raised $2,000.  Since then, THON has exploded to include 15,000 student volunteers, 700 dancers and has raised an eye popping $69 million dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital.  At this year’s event, the volunteers danced for 46 hours and raised a record $7.8 million dollars!  THON is also a yearlong effort to raise money and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer.  Please visit their website and show your support in any way you can.  This organization is enriching the lives of children who have been struck with cancer.  Not only are they raising money, but they are raises spirits.  I urge you to read about the other children that THON has helped, the stories are heartfelt and unending.  Thunder Treats has already made a donation to THON and now we encourage you to do the same.  Donate Here.

The video below is from when they had Tucker, his family and his extended family on the Today show to tell his story.
