Today the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino opened its newest attraction.  The Sky Jump.  It is essentially a controlled free fall of 855 feet for the price of $100.  From a ledge on the viewing deck of the top of the Stratosphere needle, people will be tethered to a cable and be able to free fall reaching up to 40 mph to the ground.  This is by far the most expensive ride they have at the Stratosphere.  The other rides, Big Shot, X-Scream and Insanity, the Ride cost $30 for an all-day pass.  If you just want to go up to the top it is around $16 if you’re not a local.  Locals get a discount and its around $12.  This Sky Jump will become one of the top tourist attractions in the world and will be the highest Sky Jump in the world as well.  Before taking the 108 story plunge, riders will get in custom jump suits and be given a safety lesson. They will then be connected to a “descender machine” that will guide them to the ground.  The Stratosphere says it should be able to handle 6 to 10 jumpers per hour and that the attraction will be open 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
