Ted Williams might not have an address but he definitely has something that most of us don’t have as well. An unbelievable voice. Take a listen to the video below and then read on to learn more about Ted.
Ted Williams fell on hard times after moving from Brooklyn, New York and became dependant on drugs and alcohol. Eventually Williams also became homeless. Now Williams, on his own accord, has been sober for 2 years and has been panhandling to makes ends meet. When Williams was panhandling this week, he got a little creative making a sign that said he had the “God given gift of a great voice”. As the YouTube video shows, Williams does indeed have a gift. If you haven’t heard of Ted Williams yet, don’t worry, soon he will be all over your television. He has already gotten numerous offers from credit unions to do voice overs with some paying in excess of $10,000. Kevin McLoughlin, director of post-production films for the National Football League was even given an ultimatum for courting Williams. “My boss said to me: ‘If you don’t get him hired, you’re fired'”. A person called into the local Columbus radio station claiming to be representing the Cavaliers and offered Williams a full time job and a house. On the same radio station earlier, a person from MTV3 offered to fly Williams out to LA and have him be a guest announcer on one of their shows while the people behind the voice overs for “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Simpsons” offered to fly Williams to Hollywood to compete on the upcoming show “America’s Next Voice”.

Tomorrow, the man who has no place to lay his head, will be in New York sitting with Matt Lauer on the Today Show. After that, I am sure you will see him on everything from your local news to Inside Edition. Look for Dave and Jimmy, the Columbus, Ohio DJ’s who helped launch Williams into the main stream, to join him in some of those appearances. Even though Williams life has turned into a whirlwind in the last 24 hours, the man remains completely grounded and thankful for his new found praises.
“Just to get back to some normalcy and responsibility — If I can a job, whether it’s a twenty-five or even $18,000, I’d be happy,” he said. “At least I know God has me where he wants me.”
If this isn’t a true testament to the power of You Tube then I don’t know what is. For a man that was broken down to his core to be able to rise up again is truly amazing. This man got his life right and just continued to try to survive and got by with nothing but faith. Congratulations to Ted Williams and we look forward to hearing you in the future.
