Trimming Down For Christmas: Top Habits To Uphold

Christmas is only 2 and a half months away, and all that time you thought you had to plan your Christmas and make sure that everyone is happy is fast reducing. When it comes to Christmas, we end up eating a lot of food, drinking a lot of alcohol and generally doing nothing but sit around and play games with our family. If you have spent the summer building up your ideal body, the last thing you want to do now is put it all back on again, which is why from now until Christmas you can have a health kick and be as balanced as you can with your diet and lifestyle. Here are some tips on how to shed the pounds before the festive season.

Make time in your diary

It is so important that working out becomes part of your weekly routine. Once something becomes part of your routine it will become a habit and it will be much easier for you to motivate yourself to complete it. Make time a couple of days a week to do either a small run, a sport in your local area or a workout at home. Any time you can give to exercise will be greatly appreciated.

Go with friends

Friends can be a great way to motivate us to become fitter because they hold us accountable for our actions and we also don’t want to let them down by not turning up to your Zumba class or gym session. If you want to make a goal and stick to it, make a pact with your friend or your partner to support each other and do it all together. It will make the process so much more fun and you won’t feel as if it is a chore to exercise because you will be catching up with your friend.

Cut down on sugar

Sugar is a food group which takes over a huge portion of our diet and it accounts for all of the carbs we eat as well as the extra refined sugars we eat throughout the day with our cereal and cups of tea. To lose weight quickly and see results, try cutting out sugar in your diet for a few weeks. You can try sober living for men to help you stop drinking alcohol and make sure you don’t add sugar to any of your food. It will be an adjustment and it might be hard at first but it will be a great decision and you will see big results.

Eat smaller portions

Portion control is always a big factor when it comes to your weight, and you might not even realise how large your portions are until you take the time to weigh them and compare them to other people. Think about buying smaller plates this weekend and filling them exactly how you would with a larger one. You’ll be eating less food but your brain will still think you are eating the same.

Remember your breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and this cannot be stressed enough. When it comes to breakfast you should eat like a king. For

Lunch you should eat like a prince and for dinner you should eat like a pauper. Essentially the first meal of the day should be the most substantial and include the most protein. Think of bacon eggs and avocado on toast, poached egg and chicken on toast…  a protein shake and a bowl of fruity oats. All of these are super healthy, they have a source of protein and healthy fat and will set you up for a good day.
