Darius Rucker Explains To Dan Patrick How He Got Referenced In A Notorious B.I.G. Song

Darius Rucker was on The Dan Patrick Show this week and Patrick was asking him why he hasn’t written a book yet. You have to figure, between his solo country career and his time heading Hootie and The Blowfish, he would have some good stories.

Rucker told Patrick that he is waiting until his son is 18 years old so he doesn’t have to worry about having to explain his escapades. Makes sense, I guess.

Since they were on the topic, Patrick started asking Rucker for some stories that might make the book. One thing led to another and Patrick asked Rucker if he ever met Notorious B.I.G. That’s when things got interesting.

While at a Grammy Awards, Rucker was with Biggie and his crew when a hot girl walked by. Jokingly (right) one of Biggie’s crew said he would “pay for that.” Rucker responded that he would never pay for it.

Well, when “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” dropped a little while later, there was a line in the song that was a clear shout out to Rucker.

Stay humble, stay low, blow like Hootie

True pimp ni**as spend no dough on the booty

The whole interview is good, but the part about Biggie is at the 3:00 mark.

ALSO, you should probably listened to Two A Day’s rendition of “Baby Got Back.”
