Hosting A Competitive Guys’ Day And Mopping The Floor With Them At The Same Time

So, you’re having a guy’s day/night. You’re looking for something to do that properly expresses your manliness and is also shamelessly fun. No doubt you and your friends are just as competitive with one another as most male friend groups tend to be. Are you the kind of group that will pretty much happily tear into each other with insults for hours on end? Argue about movies throughout the entire day? Well, this list is perfect for you. Here are some activities that you and the boys can do together. The great thing is that they tap into that spirit that allows you to gloat for hours on end when you beat them all. So get ready for some of the best competitive activities for you and your friends.

poker

Poker night

The old classic. What makes beating your friends even better? Taking their money after you do it. Set-up the perfect poker night.  Make sure you have a good mix of drinks in and enough space to fit everyone around the table. If it’s a big gathering, make the use of the numbers and set it up like a tournament. Two tables, with the remaining halves of each table joining together for a grand final. Never has a poker night been quite so intense.

Golfing

Ah, the great outdoors. The perfect place for shoving your friends’ faces in the dirt. Whether you’re taking to a course or just getting up on a driving range, there’s nothing like golf for a round of friendly antagonism. There are usually golf courses close to wherever you are, it’s just a matter of finding the ones you can get into. The barbs between shots will be undoubtedly fierce. Just be careful when it comes to someone taking their shot. The rage on the green can be quite something to behold.

Laser tag

Don’t get it wrong, laser tag is far from a kid only activity. What could be more masculine than shooting lasers at one another? In fact, there are laser tag venues that are specifically designed for adults. You might feel a touch silly geared up like some kind of commando when you’re firing loud, sci-fi lasers at each other. That won’t make it feel any less like sweet, sweet victory when your team has won over the other, however.  It tends to be a lot cheaper than a paintballing day out, too.

Paintballing

Above point made, if you have a bit more cash to spend and the willingness to actually hurt one another, then paintballing is a fantastic option. A paintballing day is usually organised best in advance given the booking and prices in consideration. In fact, paintballing is best enjoyed regularly. Buying your own equipment can save you on a lot of the long-term costs if you plan on going again and again. Just try not to take the game outside the venue. You don’t want to start a guerrilla war in the middle of the street amongst your own friends.

CAG

Cards Against Humanity

This is a game in which your sense of propriety and sensitivity had best be left back at the door. Cards Against Humanity, in case you haven’t you haven’t already heard of it, is a card game. A card is selected featuring a phrase. One player is named the judge for that turn. Everyone else has to pick a card from their hand that provides the funniest and most fitting answer to the original card shown to everyone. The judge picks the funniest and then hands his duty to the next player. It keeps going until someone’s arbitrarily declared a winner or you all die of laughter. Again, not a game for the sensitive. There will be cards that have just about everyone thinking ‘that’s way too harsh’. That’s all part of the fun, of course.

Giant Beer Pong

You’ve undoubtedly already heard of beer pong, that game of flipping cups to demolish the cups on your opponent’s side. Well, giant beer pong is just like that. Except giant. Beer pong can already be majorly competitive. Then when you scale everything up, it becomes a pitted battle between would-be engineering geniuses. You can easily make your own giant beer pong set or just as easily get one from Bear Pong. This one’s perfect for going to the beach or anywhere nice outside. Just expect to look like the stupidest people there and love every second of it.

Competitive… sandwich making?

If looking stupid in public is your thing, then you’ll love this game. It’s a lot of fun to play at barbeques or wherever there’s food available. For the friends that take competition to the extreme, competitive sandwich making is exactly as it sounds. You split up into teams, each in charge of a different station, and make sandwiches like a supply line. The winner is whoever makes the most sandwiches with the least ingredients missing before the time runs out. Yes, it is just as frantic, stupid and hilarious as it sounds.

risk

Extreme Risk

Tread carefully with this one. If you haven’t played it, you should be aware of the dangers. Risk has probably destroyed more friendships that Monopoly and stolen biscuits combined. There’s nothing quite like finding out you’ve been double crossed and your empire lost in the roll of a few dice. Then you add alcohol to it. Extreme Risk is a drinking game that is going to probably simulate the realities of losing a war. Fights will start, but it will be all worth it. The losers will be considerably tipsy and the winners will be conquerors.

go karts

Go-Karting

Not to be mixed with the above game. Go-karting is a classic for birthdays and bachelor parties amongst competitive friends. Find a track near you and relish in literally leaving your friends in the dust. Some places will even give out certificates and trophies. Eternal proof that you are, in fact, better than everyone else. Just don’t be surprised if someone else practices for weeks before the next race.
