Man Pinched For DUI Stole Rose Bowl Golf Cart, Took It On The Freeway

As a general rule of thumb, if you are drunk enough to think stealing a golf cart and driving it on the freeway to get to your car is a good idea, you are probably too drunk to drive said car.

Not the case for a 19-year old man who was arrested after stealing a nine-passenger Rose Bowl golf cart after the Oregon-Florida State College Football Semifinal game.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to a 911 call from someone who spotted the teen heading eastbound on the 210 freeway in Pasadena. Another concerned citizen called to say he exited the freeway at Hill Street. The CHP officers picked up the teen just west of there.

The drunk driver admitted to police that he took the golf cart from the Rose Bowl, but it probably didn’t take much investigating since their were stickers all over the cart. The man told police he was trying to get to the other side of Pasadena where he parked his car.

“He took the cart and was trying to get to his car on the other side of Pasadena,” said Sgt. Mike Munoz. “It’s definitely chalked up as one of the new experiences for a lot of people here.”

He was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and was booked without incident into the Pasadena Police Department.

Nine-passenger golf cart? I can’t believe he didn’t offer anyone else a ride.
