Snoop Lion – No Guns Allowed (Feat. Drake & Cori B)

Calvin Broadus, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop Dogg, Snoop, Snoop Lion.  However you refer to the man who came out of Long Beach and turn the rap world on its head in the early 90’s, you know who I am talking about.  The last of those name, Snoop Lion, is what he is going by these days and in late April we will get our first full length album from the rapper turned Rastafarian.

As a lead up to Reincarnated, the newest single “No Guns Allowed” has been released.  A smooth jam that addresses the heated gun debate that is going on right now in the States.  You can definitely feel the Jamaican influence in Snoop’s music with this track.  That same influence is what has helped Snoop transition from a dog to a lion.

Me growing into the next phase of my musical career, the next phase of my life. But at the same time, I can never get rid of who I am. I’m an East Side Long Beach Rollin 20s Crip, first and foremost. … I’m Snoop Doggy Dogg, then I’m Snoop Dogg, then I’m Snoop Lion. But it’s all the same.

I’m going to call the latter part of that quote one of the best ever.  How can you not love S-N double O-P?
