Former Middleweight Champ Kelly Pavlik Facing Arraignment for OVI Charge

The former WBO, The Ring and WBC Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik was arrested…again…sometime Monday after refusing to go through a field sobriety test or submitting to a blood test. The Ohio State Highway Patrol pulled Pavlik over on the Ohio Turnpike in Jackson Township. Someone had called about a car, fitting the description of Pavlik’s, being driven by an impaired driver.

This is Pavlik’s second arrest this year. Earlier in the year, the former boxer made headlines after refusing to pay a cab driver that brought him home from a bar. At least then, he hadn’t been driving.

In 2011, Pavlik pleaded guilty to an OVI charge after ditching a four-wheeler he was riding in his neighborhood while drunk. He had struck a light pole.  His charge was dimissed after he pleaded guilty to charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control.
