A.J. Pierzynski Ejected for Asking Quinn Wolcott for a Ball He ‘Could F*cking See’

In the middle of the sixth inning during the Indians vs. Red Sox last night, Red Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski was ejected by home plate umpire Quinn Wolcott. It was one of those most anticlimactic ejections I’ve ever seen in baseball.

Throughout the night you could see players from both clubs arguing about Wolcott’s skewed idea of a strike zone, so maybe it was just a matter of time. He was taking a lot of heat, so it was only a matter of time before someone set him off.

After a walk was dealt to Asdrubal Cabrera, Pierzynski turned around to Wolcott to ask for a new ball. However, the way he actually asked for the ball was what got him tossed.

“Gimme a ball…One you can f*cking see”

Not something you would want to say to an umpire in general, but one that had been arguing with players all night and is on edge was definitely not a good idea.

John Farrell came out and argued for Pierzynski, who during the ensuing argument could be heard saying “I didn’t say that”.

Indians ended up winning 7-4 in the 12th inning on a three run walk-off home run by Asdrubal Cabrera. The game didn’t end until around 2:00am due to a 2-1/2 hour rain delay. When asked about what he said to Wolcott, Pierzynski offered up some sarcasm.

“We didn’t agree on what time the game should have started tonight,” said Pierzynski. “I said it should have started a little earlier, he thought it was a little late. We just didn’t get along as far as that went.”
