Jordan Spieth May Be Planning The Greatest Troll Of Phil Mickelson Ever

On Tuesday, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas will take on Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler in a match at Whistling Straits ahead of the PGA Championship. This is a normal thing for Mickelson, who enjoys the light competition ahead of the tournaments almost as much as he does hazing (good natured) the younger players on the tour.

Spieth, who has been on the receiving end of Mickelson’s hijinks, may have figured out a way to get into Mickelson’s head to gain the upper hand (if he needs to, he is number 2 in the World).

“I’m going to try and get the U.S. Open trophy flown in so I can sit on the front of each green for Phil,” Spieth said. “So I’ll have something for him — just dishing it back. We’ll see if we can get somebody to carry it around for the round. It’s the first time I have something on him.”

The U.S. Open Championship, for those of you who don’t know, is the only major that Phil Mickelson needs to complete his career Grand Slam. He has fallen short and landed in second place six different times.

If this actually does happen, it would be one of the greatest troll jobs ever pulled off.
