The future in Cleveland is a little brighter this morning after a late night meeting between the front office of the Cleveland Cavaliers and their star point guard Kyrie Irving resulted in a hand shake that will keep Irving there for a long time.
Reports indicate that a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to USA Today that the team and Irving have agreed to a five-year, $90 million maximum contract extension. The contract itself cannot be signed until the NBA free agency moratorium lifts on July 10. So until then, it has been agreed upon with a hand shake.

Dan Gilbert, new GM David Griffin and new coach David Blatt all traveled to the New Jersey home of Irving with their offer. The market opened at midnight and based on the above Tweets, it doesn’t look like Dan Gilbert wasted any time nailing down the future of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
