Max Scherzer Agrees To Washington Nationals $180 Million Deal

Former Detroit Tigers pitcher and 2013 Cy Young winner Max Scherzer is packing up and leaving the Motor City.

According to reports, Scherzer and the Washington Nationals have agreed to a seven-year deal that will be worth more than $180 million.

Last March, Scherzer turned down a six-year, $144 million deal from the Detroit Tigers making him the most sought after free agent this winter. After turning down the Tigers, the team seemed to see the light at the end of the tunnel and gave their “Scherzer money” to slugger Miguel Cabrera in the form of a eight-year extension worth $242 million.

The Nationals rotation now becomes one of the most potent in the National League with Scherzer joining Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Doug Fister.
