Ohio High School Team Blocks Game-Winning Field Goal, Goes Nuts, Loses Game

The Boardman (Oh.) Spartans had hung with the Warren G. Harding (Oh.) Raiders for the entire game. The Spartans were trailing 14-12 with just a few ticks left on the clock when they lined up for a chip-shot 29-yard field goal attempt to win the game. The Raiders, though, brought the house and were able to block the kick to seal their win.

Or so they thought.

The Raiders seemed to forget, amid all the celebrating, that the ball was still live. The Spartans, however, were keenly aware. While the majority of the Raiders special teams defense ran to join the rest of their team in celebration, the Spartans simply picked the ball up and walked into the end zone to win 18-12.
