Olympic ‘Blade Runner’ Star Oscar Pistorius Has Been Charged With the Murder of His Girlfriend
The famous Olympic and Paralympic track and field star, Oscar Pistorius, that lobbied hard to be able to compete with able-bodied athletes in the Olympics, has been charged with the murder of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Police responded to Pistorius’ home in the Silver Woods gated community in South Africa and found Oscar and the victim, who had been shot at least twice, to be the only people at the house. A 9mm handgun that may have been used was recovered at the scene. Media outlets, to the surprise of the police spokeswoman Denis Beukes, have been reporting that Pistorius may have confused his girlfriend as an intruder in the house, even though there was no sign of forced entry.
According to Beukes, there had been problems at the house in the past of the domestic violence nature.
There are witnesses and we have interviewed them. We’re talking about neighbors and people who heard things earlier in the evening and when the shooting took place.
Beukes stated that the police would oppose any application that Pistorius might make to be released on bail.
According to a Daily Mail report, Reeva Steenkemp was about to “explode into the media” and had a very bright future. A future that included starring in a reality show this weekend. Before becoming the face of Avon and modeling for FHM, she had earned her law degree. Hours after tweeting ‘What do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow??? #getexcited #ValentinesDay’, she was found dead from the gun shot wounds.
