UPDATED: OSU CB Bradley Roby and S Vonn Bell Also Had Recent Incidents

roby-bellIt was probably a busy Monday morning for The Ohio State Buckeyes and Urban Meyer.  In addition to having to deal with Carlos Hyde being named as a person of interest in the assault of a young woman at a bar, the coach had to also handle situations with his senior cornerback Bradley Roby and his star safety recruit Vonn Bell.

Bradley Roby was arrested in Bloomington, Indiana after he was asked to leave a bar after an altercation and refused.  He is facing preliminary charges of battery causing bodily harm (Class-A Misdemeanor).  His hearing is scheduled for today at 1:30 pm.

On the flip side, highly touted safety recruit Vonn Bell was arrested for an open container in Tennessee after the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over and the driver was issued a DWI.  Normally, an open container would warrant a ticket and a fine.  Perhaps the fact that he is underage had something to do with his arrest?  If that is it, I wouldn’t expect too much of a hammer dropped.  Nothing more than an Oregon-esque slap on the wrist.

Still, very little is known about the Vonn Bell arrest at this time and it seems as though the Hyde and Roby situations will overshadow it a bit.

UPDATE

Bradley Roby will not attend the Big Ten media days this week.  As far as punishment goes, it seems as though head coach Urban Meyer may be waiting to see what he is actually charged with.

No mention of Vonn Bell was made today when Urban Meyer handed out punishments for the off-field antics of Carlos Hyde, Bradley Roby, Tim Gardner and Marcus Baugh.  If it comes to light that Bell is guilty, I imagine he will get roughly the same penalty as Baugh (who also got busted for underage possession but also having a fake I.D.) which is suspended from football activity and missing the first game of the season.
