Shawne Merriman is NOT Guilty

Call me crazy, but I don’t think Shawne Merriman did anything wrong. Between statements and reports from the scene, it sounds more like Merriman was trying to stop Tequila from driving in her state of inebriation. According to Merriman, paramedics were called to his home and reported no injuries to Tequila. Todd Macaluso, Merriman’s attorney maintains that he did nothing wrong and there are several eye witnesses who supports Merriman’s story. San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Steadman said Merriman was arrested Sunday when the Tequila signed a citizen’s arrest warrant charging him with battery and false imprisonment. Both are felonies. The Sherriffs Department spokesman said that their deputies had determined that Tequila had been drinking. He reported that she was able to talk, walk and was mobile but had no serious injuries that the deputies could see. This all sounds like another instance when someone blows a situation of out of porportion because of alcohol. I am guilty of it as I am sure anyone who has ever enjoyed more than a handfull of man-pops is. With witnesses to support Merriman and no physical harm to Tequila found by paramedics or deputies, it doesn’t seem like these allegations and charges are going to stick. Merriman was already back at practice with the Chargers less than 24 hours later.
