Super Bowl 50 Betting Odds Update

The 2015 NFL season is still a few months away but given the league’s propensity for generating year-round news, it’s never too soon to start breaking down teams’ chances to win Super Bowl 50.

Perhaps no fanbase is more excited than that of the Seattle Seahawks’ 12th man. The Seahawks are still licking their wounds from that bitter loss in Super Bowl XLIX at the hands of the Patriots. They must be feeling confident of reclaiming the Vince Lombardi Trophy next February, however, after acquiring former Saints’ tight end Jimmy Graham. Sportsbooks have the Seahawks priced at around +600 to win Super Bowl 50.

Speaking of the Patriots, the defending champs aren’t far behind Seattle, as they are currently priced at +650 to repeat. Despite losing a couple of key defensive pieces in Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, every sportsbook listed in this Super Bowl betting guide picks New England as the favorite to return to the top of the AFC.

The Green Bay Packers, meanwhile, have also been installed among the early Super Bowl chalks. Aaron Rodgers and company are +600. They’re also pegged at around +350 to reclaim NFC supremacy. That’s saying a lot about the Packers’ core players, considering that they are yet to sign any players that played for a different team last season at this point of the free agency period. Based on General Manager Ted Thompson’s moves thus far, the team’s priority is to retain some of their key players. The Packers have already signed wide receiver Randall Cobb and right tackle Bryan Bulaga to contract extensions.

The Indianapolis Colts, on the other hand, have been a busy this offseason, signing a couple of offensive threats in Frank Gore and Andre Johnson. Hopefully for Andrew Luck, these new additions will spell a better season for the Colts, who are +650 and +325 to win the Super Bowl and AFC Championship, respectively.
