ThunderTreats is Going Bowlin'

A regular season filled with underdogs, upsets, disappointments, punches to the face and eye gouging came to a close this past weekend with some last minute fireworks.  Bama came out and proved that Tim Tebow is not superman and I haven’t heard any news on his tears curing cancer .  Texas came within a last second field goal from upset by a Nebraska team with absolutely no offense.  The Cinci Bearcats clawed their way back against Pitt in a memorable Big East Battle to hold onto their undefeated record and BCS hopes.  GaTech barely hung onto their ranking after escaping Clemson.  Despite losing their #1 back LeGarrette Blount to a knockout punch and their Title Game chances with an early season loss to Boise, Oregon has battled back to a respectable #7 BCS position and a Rose Bowl Birth.  Notre Dame actually ended their season with a win by firing Charlie Weis and declining a Bowl Game.  Next year doesn’t look too much better for them losing Jimmy Clausen to the draft with plenty more to follow.  The Big 10 is sending 7 teams to Bowl Games this year.  ThunderTreats will be sending respresentatives to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and The Capital One Bowl in Orlando this year and will report extensive coverage.  Here are the final BCS Standings.

Here are my predictions….

CITI BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

#2 Texas (13-0) vs. #1 Alabama (13-0) –4.5

The Longhorns and Crimson Tide will meet in the National Championship for the 9th time is history.  Texas barely survived their regular season finale to enter this game.  A loss that would have changed every bcs matchup this bowl season.  Bama is coming into this game with tons of hype and momentum after destroying the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship.  I believe that Mark Ingram won the Heisman with his performance.  This presents a match-up with the possible Heisman runner-up.  Will this game be a Colt McCoy vs. Mark Ingram?? Highly doubtful.  Both of these teams bring it on defense.  Nebraska showed the true colors of the high powered Longhorn offense.  Alabama didn’t have any problems putting up points against the Gators. But this is a Title Game. The Grand Daddy of them all.  With a month to prepare and two solid defenses, this game will be anything but a shootout.  So this game turns into a Mack Brown vs. Nick Saban.  I would bet Saban 100 out of 100 times.  He is a machine when it comes to game planning.  Bama takes the title in a slow paced game.

Alabama 23  Texas 16
