TT Heisman Winner

Heisman

Here at Thunder Treats, we decided to do our own Heisman vote off this week to see who we think should take home the Heisman Trophy this year.  This is how it worked; each author was awarded 10 points to disperse.  You awarded your first place player with 5 points, your second place with 3 points and your third place with 2 points.  The player with the most points at the final tally would be crowned the Thunder Treats 2009 Heisman Award winner.  Here are the results…

In third place with 15 points was the dominating DT from Nebraska, Ndamukong Suh.  Suh had a breakout year with numbers that got the Heisman voters heads turning.   His 82 tackles, 12 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception quickly got him in the Heisman chatter.  Most analysts projected Suh to be the number one overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft.  Only 1 point was the difference between our runner up and our TT Heisman Award winner.  Coming in at the number two spot with 26 points is the battering ram from Stanford, Toby Gerhart.  Gerhart averaged 5.6 yards a carry and rushed for 1,736 yards this year, I think his most impressive stat is him posting up in the end zone a whopping 26 times. Gerhart received the most number one votes overall (Tebow knows what we’re talking about) but received no third place votes.  It seems as though it was a love/hate relationship with Toby and our authors.  And now…Our winner of the 2009 Thunder Treats Heisman awards goes to…wait for it…Mark Ingram from Alabama!  He just squeaked by Gerhart by 1 point with 27 points.   Ingram helped Alabama roll to the number 1 team in the country and now has some hardware (metaphorically speaking of course) for his trophy case.  Ingram averaged 6.2 yards per touch and he rushed for 1,542 yards while reaching the end zone 15 times.  Ingram is the only player ever to win a Thunder Treats Heisman award and if he wins on Saturday, he will be the first Alabama player to win the actual Heisman Memorial Trophy.  He is also the only player that every TT author voted for; he had 3 first place votes, 2 second place, and 3 third place.  Now we can only wait to see how TT results match up to the real results on Saturday night.  The authors from TT have spoken…Roll Tide!!
