Matthew Dellavedova Isn’t The Only Athlete In The Family, Meet His Sister Yana

As a Cleveland Cavaliers fan, Matthew Dellavedova’s breakout game against the Chicago Bulls in game six of the Eastern Conference Semifinals was a thing of beauty. We’ve watched the Junk Yard Dingo (we’re trying to make that a thing) play hard and scrap all year and watching him, we felt like proud dads.

While thumbing through all the articles on Delly after the win, one commenter on the Thunder Treats Facebook page mentioned that someone had changed his Wikipedia page to say that his middle name was “God.” I went to check it out, but it had already been changed back. Rats. But, what I did see was that he had a sister named Yana.

So naturally, I did the next logical thing and decided to see if Yana Dellavedova was on the information superhighway. Turns out she is and she is also an athlete. The first thing that came up was her player profile from her basketball playing days at Long Beach State University. That’s right, ballin’ runs in the family.

Unfortunately, it seems Yana suffered a severe back injury and was ruled out for the 2012-13 season and it may have ended her playing days much earlier than expected. She returned to Australia to attend The University of Melbourne and will turn 22 on May 18. So happy early birthday, Yana!
