Fox 31 news out of Denver is reporting that wide reciever Kenny McKinley has passed away from an apparent suicide.  The Bronco's confirmed the tragic news via Twitter this evening.  McKinley was drafted by the Bronco's in the 5th round of the 2009 draft.  He saw limited playing time last year and after injuring his knee he was placed on injured reserve.  Prior to this season, McKinley had been placed on the IR again by the Bronco's.  McKinley was a standout at South Carolina where he gathered over 200 receptions and 19 touchdowns in 4 years.  He was 23.

"Kenny had a promising future on the football field, but more importantly, he was a great teammate whose smile and personality could light up the room," Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said in a statement. "This is a tragic loss for our football team, and his family is in all of our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

Our thoughts and prayers are with McKinley's family and extended football family.  This is the 3rd time in four years that the Denver Bronco's have had to deal with the sudden loss of a teammate.  If you remember, cornerback Darrent Williams was gunned down in a drive by shooting while running back Damien Nash collapsed at a charity baseketball event.  Both tradgies came in 2007.
