Meet Derby, The Dog Who Runs On 3D Printed Prosthetics

Tara Anderson finally broke down. She couldn’t stand seeing Derby without a home. So she contacted Peace and Paws and offered to foster him.

Derby was born with deformed front legs and obviously had trouble walking, making it harder to find him a home. Tara is a director at 3D Systems, a company that specializes in 3D printing, design and manufacturing, and the two together are a match made in heaven.

Using her company’s technology, Tara and her team were able to design prosthetic legs for Derby so he would be able to run and play like his friends.

You can see how much Derby enjoys them below. They noted in the video that they designed the prosthetic to be low to the ground and will gradually increase the height as Derby gets used to them.

Awesome all around.
