We told you at the beginning of the month that the ball was rolling on a reboot of the popular ABC sitcom Boy Meets World. We also said that if they were unable to land the two stars of the original show, Ben Savage and Danielle Fisher, it would essentially be a bust. Well word today from the Huffington Post tells us that the original Cory and Topanga have joined the cast.
The show, appropriately dubbed “Girl Meets World”, will be centered around Riley, the 13 year old daughter of Cory and Topanga. A nationwide search is underway for the part of Riley. Also, a search is underway for the part of Maya, the edgy best friend (think Shawn Hunter).
As the show follows the path of its predecessor, so will Cory. He will be playing a high school history teacher just like his mentor in the original show, Mr. Feeny. Also, the creator of the original, Michael Jacobs, is on board with the new show which makes it all the more promising.
There is no word on whether or not Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), Betsy Randle (Mrs. Matthews), William Russ (Mr. Matthews), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews) or William Daniels (Mr. Feeny) will be joing the cast of Girl Meets World. However, with the steps taken thus far, you can bet that if Michael Jacobs wants them, he will get them.
