There aren’t many celebrities who will go on national television and admit they were wrong about anything, let theft and drug use.  Many will refuse to answer the questions and ax them from the list of questions during the prep for the show.  Not Lindsay Lohan though.

Most of you probably don’t like Lindsay Lohan or have written her off completely as an actress.  Why not?  What has she doen lately that warrants any respect?  Well, LiLo definitely got a lot more respect than she has in the last 2 years in just 10 minutes last night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

At first the interview was geared toward her role as Kim Gotti, John Gotti Jr.’s wife, in the upcoming Gotti flick “Gotti: Three Generations”.  The movie shouldn’t be a slouch with John Travolta being “Teflon Don” himself.  Jay Leno asked LiLo if she had ever met John Gotti and she told him yes, when she was 3.  The professional that Jay Leno is, he used this as a perfect segue into talking about her current legal troubles.

“Hanging out with John Gotti when you’re 3?  Now that’s a bad decision.  That could be why you’re in so much trouble now..”

Lindsay didn’t shy away from talking about her past and the mistakes she has made.  Mistakes that most recently have landed her 480 hours of community service and 120 days in jail.  Obviously we are going to get the song and dance about the jail being overcrowded and she’ll probably get 10%-20% of that time (12-24 days) but the hours are going to stick.  120 of the hours will be janitoral duties at the LA County Coroners office while the remaining 360 will be served at LA’s Downtown Womens Center.

Leno went on to ask Lohan if she was worried that people might stop calling and she might have blown the opportunities that were once given to her.

“I’ve made a lot of poor decisions in the past and I’m dealing with the consequences of those decsions.  So yea, there were times I was concerned but I’m a fighter and I know that I have to work to gain the respect back and I’m willing to do the work I have to do to follow through with being an actress.”

Good for her.  Hopefully she wo-mans up and takes on these community service hours seriously.  If she can do her time and stay out of trouble, perhaps we may see the Lindsay of old.
