Boston Marathon Explosions Rock the Finish Line [Updated]

Earlier this afternoon, around 3 p.m., two explosions occured near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.  While no fatalities have been reported at this time, many injuries have been sustained by runners as well as spectators.

The blast is said to have happened at the intersection of Boylston and Exeter streets and could be felt blocks away.  Witnesses reported people being evacuated from the area and in some circumstances, people lost limbs.

UPDATE 4:00 4/15: ESPN has reported that the Boston Police have said that two people are dead as a result of the explosions earlier today.  In addition to the fatalities, there are at least 23 more injuries.

UPDATE 6:00 4/15: CNN reporting that there are more than 100+ injured as of right now.  Also, earlier reports stated that there might have been three explosions after a fire was reported at the JFK Library.  That incident is now being looked at as isolated from the previous two explosions.

UPDATE 6:32 4/15: CNN’s Wolf Blitzer just reported that one of the confirmed dead is an 8-year-old child.  It is not know at this time whether it was a boy or girl.  Also, they are now referring to the attack as a “terror attack” even though the President made sure not to use the term in speech.  It is not know whether the terrorists are foreign or domestic.  Homeland Security is referring to the incident as “a coordinated event”.  Two other bombs were recovered that had not be detonated.

UPDATED 10:30am 4/16: CNN now reporting that three are confirmed dead and the number of those injured has risen to 154.
