Brooklyn Nets Adopt New Logo After Acquiring Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett

The Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets put together a blockbuster deal that could possibly make the Nets a contender next year, but at what cost?

A lot was given up by the Nets to get the veteran tandem of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett from the Celtics, but will it be worth it?

As for Boston though, if the departure of head coach Doc Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers didn’t seal the deal on the rebuilding process, then this trade should all but slam the last nail into the rebuilding coffin.

For Jason Terry, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, the Boston Celtics received:

  • Gerald Wallace
  • Kris Humphries
  • Kris Joseph
  • Keith Bogans
  • Reggie Evans
  • First round pick 2014
  • First round pick 2016
  • First round pick 2018

This now makes the starting lineup for the Brooklyn Nets Deron Williams (29), Brooke Lopez (25), Joe Johnson (31), Paul Pierce (35) and Kevin Garnett (37).  Seems legit right? Unless you think age is a factor when competing in a 82-game season. We’ll see what happens next season, but that seems like a lot to give up (3 out of the next 5 1st rounders) for players that are 35 and 37 years old.

Boston fans, on the other hand, can sit back and let their organization rebuild while they enjoy watching the Patriots.

Oh wait.
