One year ago today, Landon Donovan and the U.S. Team shocked the World

I remember it like it was yesterday.  It was an early morning match and I had arranged to go into work at 10am instead of the usual 7am.  At that time, I still lived in Las Vegas.  I remember texting my buddy and telling him that I was pretty pissed that I blew off work to watch a scoreless draw.  A scoreless draw that would have ended USA’s bid at the 2010 World Cup.  A few minutes later, in the first minute of stoppage time, Landon Donovan put away a rebound on a goal attempt from Clint Dempsey that will forever be known as “The Goal”.  I knew this was a big moment for the USA but I’m not quite sure I knew how big at that moment.  Chills ran through my body then and they still do when I watch the replay.  Check out the video of the “Goal heard ’round the World” and tell me you don’t get chills.  Also, check out the worlds reaction to the goal below that.  This video is definitely worth watching and is also chill inducing.

Good luck to U.S. Soccer as they take on Mexico in the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament on Saturday at the Rose Bowl.
